About
Space@home is an interactive online planetarium. It is able to show you a virtual view of the sky as it would appear at any time and any place on earth. You do need to install Space@home because it will be directly executed in your web browser. Space@home can currently display about 9000 bright and 300000 faint stars as well the sun, the moon and the planets. Special events like lunar eclipses can also be shown.

Usage
After the applet has been loaded the main window will appear. You can drag the mouse to change the direction of view. Pressing the left mouse button will zoom in, the right button will zoom out. To change the observing time and location click on the time and position fields: the left button increases a field, the right button decreases it. You can also animate the sky with the button bar at the top. Data (like stars, surfaces, etc.) will be downloaded as needed. The amount of data still to be downloaded is shown in the status bar at the bottom of the applet window.
-
Requirements
Space@home runs as a Java Applet in your browser. Thus no installation is required. However you need either MS Internet-Explorer or Netscape and you have to enable Java in your browser. Your computer should have 64 MB of RAM and should be at least as fast as a P233. Since quite a bit of data may be downloaded by the applet you should have at least a 28.8 Modem.
